Professor Dr. Amir Pašić was born in 1953 in Mostar, and graduated from University of Sarajevo with a degree of Architecture in 1977. He went on to gain Master of Science in the field of historic preservation, University of Zagreb, 1981 and title Doctor of Technical science in the field of architecture and urban planning, University of Zagreb in 1989. He is a full professor of architecture (since 1999) and a full professor of urban planning (since 2000).
He is the Head of the Architectural department in the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), Istanbul where he was the Program Coordinator of the Mostar 2004 Project (1994-2004); and currently is the Program Coordinator for Al-Quds/ Jerusalem 2015 program, and educational programs on preservation of urban heritage.
As an architect and urban planner from Mostar, he was a leading member of the team, which won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1986 for the restoration of the Old Town of Mostar.
Also, he served as the consultant for the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, Geneva, the World Monuments Fund, New York, and ICOMOS, Paris.
Also, he lectured at Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, King Saud Universit Riyadh, the Royal Polytechnic Institute in Stockholm, York University, La Sapienza University Rome, Alcala de Hennares University Madrid, Yale University, Cornell University, and twenty others.
