Betteridge's law of headlines is an adage that states, "Any headline which ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no." The name refers to Ian Betteridge, a British technology journalist,[1] although the general concept is much older.[2] The observation has also been called "Davis' law"[3][4] or just the "journalistic principle."[5]
